the package (poem #563)

January 1, 2020 Alina H. Hansen Writer & Poet

Snow packed, dreams drifting.

I opened the package, the tape

stuck to my fingers, the debris of

plastic bubbles and cardboard within

cardboard. Unwrap, unpack,

inside, something I knew was going

to arrive.

Sleepless [poem #561]

December 21, 2019December 11, 2022 Alina H. Hansen Writer & Poet
woman s eyes peeping on a hole

Peel lids back, lashes plucked,

eyes open, unable to shut. Seen,

never unseen, pupils dilate, open

shut, open shut, tears.

December 17, 2019December 17, 2019 Alina H. Hansen Writer & Poet

Yellow flowers painted on cream walls

crying, screaming, set me free

she spins, and turns, trapped captive

in her own home, echoes heartbreak

locked in and alone.
