Sun peeks out bathing the Earth

in autumn light. Drink in the air

full of flavor, an aroma of dead leaves

and dying things. Winter crawls

into the nights rising from its slumber.

Days falling away into memories

faded and fuzzed around the edges

burned up and ready to be recalled

or thrown out with the morning trash.

Eyes peeled back,

simple words cannot fill

the voids in the heart,

see, stare, look on

unblinking and unafraid

at the fears becoming

realities.

black fur glistens, wet

cries and shakes, blood

a fresh little felines

cling to soft breasts.
